Terms of Use

Effective date: [DATE — TO BE INSERTED ON PUBLICATION]

Last updated: [DATE — TO BE INSERTED ON PUBLICATION]

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of iwillbethere.app ("IWBT", "the Service") provided by Paul Barnard trading as I Will Be There ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The service

IWBT is a meeting-arrangement and event-networking platform. It lets you:

  • Register for events as an attendee
  • Browse other attendees at the same event
  • Send and receive meeting requests
  • Book meetings into mutual time slots
  • Manage your event profile, availability, and attendance days

If you are a corporate organiser, IWBT additionally lets you host events, manage attendees, configure sponsor banners, and run reports on engagement.

If you create a personal event hub, IWBT lets you run a small event of up to 50 attendees with the same networking features available to attendees within it.

2. Account eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 16, do not sign up. We do not knowingly accept accounts from children under 16. See our Privacy Policy for what happens if a child has signed up.

You must provide accurate information when registering. Each person should have only one account. We may terminate duplicate or fraudulent accounts.

3. Pricing and payment

At this time:

  • Attendee accounts are free, with no charge ever for participation as an attendee
  • Personal event hubs are free, with no charge for hosting your own event
  • Corporate events are free for events with up to 500 attendees, within reasonable-use limits

The Service is currently free for the foreseeable future. We will give 90 days notice before changing our charging model. If we introduce paid plans:

  • Existing accounts will be notified 90 days in advance
  • Free tiers (attendees, personal hubs, small corporate events) will remain available
  • You can delete your account at any time if you don't agree with new pricing

Where you do make a paid purchase (e.g. an email allowance pack as a corporate organiser):

  • Payment is handled by Stripe, our payment processor
  • We do not see or store your full payment card details
  • Refund policy: contact [email protected] within 14 days of purchase if the service was not delivered

4. Acceptable use

By using IWBT, you agree NOT to:

  • Send abusive, harassing, threatening, or hateful messages to other users
  • Impersonate another person or organisation
  • Send unsolicited commercial messages (spam) via meeting requests
  • Attempt to obtain personal data about other users beyond what's shown in their event profile
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service except where we publish APIs for this purpose
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass security controls
  • Upload images or content you don't own the rights to (including sponsor banner imagery if you're a corporate organiser)
  • Use the Service to facilitate any illegal activity

Organisers have moderation tools to block users who violate these rules within their event. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts site-wide for serious or repeated violations.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you submit (your pitch, your tags, your messages, sponsor banner imagery).

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content for the sole purpose of operating the Service — i.e. showing your profile to other attendees in your events, delivering meeting requests, displaying sponsor banners as configured.

You confirm that:

  • You own the content you submit, OR you have the rights to use it
  • Your content does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
  • Your content does not contain confidential information you shouldn't be sharing

We may remove content that breaches these rules. We may inform organisers when we do so.

6. Sponsor banners (corporate organisers only)

If you submit sponsor banner imagery as a corporate organiser:

  • We review each submission before it goes live
  • We may reject imagery that is illegal, infringes copyright, or breaches our acceptable use rules
  • Approved imagery runs during the dates configured by us in agreement with you
  • You retain copyright in the imagery; you grant us the necessary licence to display it

7. Service availability

We aim for the Service to be available continuously, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may need to take the Service offline temporarily for maintenance, upgrades, or to respond to a security incident.

We will give reasonable notice for planned maintenance. Unplanned outages will be addressed as soon as possible.

We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure against every possible attack, or suitable for every purpose. The Service is provided "as is" subject to the limitations below.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law

Subject to those exceptions, our total liability to you arising from or in connection with your use of the Service is limited to the greater of:

  • The amount you have paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, OR
  • £100

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or incidental losses, including loss of profit, loss of business opportunity, loss of data not caused by our negligence, or reputational damage.

You use the Service for networking and business-meeting purposes. We don't guarantee any specific business outcome from meetings arranged via the Service.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time using the "Delete my account" button on your account profile. Deletion is immediate from our primary database.

We can terminate or suspend your account if:

  • You materially breach these Terms
  • You use the Service to harm others
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We discontinue the Service entirely (in which case we will give 90 days notice)

If we terminate your account, we will inform you (where reasonable) and explain why.

10. Changes to these Terms

When we change these Terms:

  • We update the "Last updated" date at the top
  • For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days in advance
  • Continued use of the Service after material changes means you accept them
  • If you don't accept material changes, you can delete your account before they take effect

Non-material changes (fixing typos, clarifying language) may be made without notice.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where:

  • Mandatory consumer protection rules in your country give you stronger rights — those continue to apply
  • You are a consumer resident in the EU, in which case you may bring proceedings in your local courts

For UK residents: the small claims track of the County Court is available for claims up to £10,000.
